The Apache 2007 US Conference – Get Involved

The Apache Software Foundation launched it’s seventh annual conference called ApacheCon US. The very first Apachecon US was held in Orlando, Florida on 8-10 March 2000 and since then the tradition has been kept. This year Apachecon US will be held 12-16 November 2007 at the Westin Peachtree Plaza in Atlanta, Georgia.

The Apache conference series they say “delves into the highly lauded community that develops and shepherds industry-leading Open Source projects, including Apache HTTP Server – the world’s most popular Web server software for more than a decade.
ApacheCon offers participants the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Open Source methodologies and further advance their participation with like-minded peers in a relaxed, community-focused environment.

Registration is still open to all on the Apachecon website. The ASF offers early registration incentives for ApacheCon 2007. For a better follow-up subscribe to the ApacheCon public mailing list to get more information on the upcoming US 2007 conference as well as future events: [email protected].

The forgotten members of the Ubuntu family

Much had been said about Ubuntu and it’s, new release Gutsy Gibbon in the recent days. Many do not even know that on that same day October 18 Gutsy Gibbon versions of Kubuntu, Xubuntu and Edubuntu were released. Very little attention has been given to the other members of the Ubuntu family like the KDE version Kubuntu or the rather feather weight version Xubuntu.
Fortunately, Lifehacker came out with a thorough summary of what’s new in the entire Ubuntu family. Get yourself informed, you might even find Kubuntu better.
