Firefox 3.6 now Available for Download

Firefox 3.6

As announced yesterday Firefox 3.6 Final has punctually been released. You can now download this new version of Firefox for your Mac, Linux or Windows platforms. The release notes are not yet available, but hey who needs it after closely following its development from the very first alpha.

Linux users (x86) can use this line of code to download and extract it into their Home folder:

wget -O - http://releases.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6/linux-i686/en-US/firefox-3.6.tar.bz2 | tar xj -C ~ | tar xj -C ~

Thunderbird 3.0.1 now Available for Download

Firefox 3.6 Release Candidate 2 (RC2) to Fix a Security Bug in RC1

It seems a security bug in Firefox 3.6 RC 1, Linux version has pushed Mozilla to build a second release candidate of Firefox 3.6. This built is already available for download, but release notes are not yet available so much can’t be said. Mozilla is also considering to officially release Firefox 3.6 final on Tuesday January 19, if other bugs don’t pop-up and if this update is enough to harness this bug – If not Firefox 3.6 will be shipped on Jan 26.

Mozilla drops Firefox 3.7 from Development Plan

A major change in Mozilla’s development attitude towards the Firefox browser puts v3.7 out of schedule. Mozilla now prefers to gradually build the browser all year long, inserting new functions via regular security updates rather than making feature-packed upgrades once or twice a year. Gimp (2.7) Single Window Mode – Love at first Sight

It’s no news that Gimp 2.8 is going to have a single-window optional mode – it has been confirmed, but Gimp 2.8 will have other goodies like ‘Multiple column inspectors’, ‘Polaroclass overlays’ and ‘Switch between open images using an easy history thumbnail bar’ – this last option is already present in Gimp 2.7, you can see it in the screenshot above.
