The Opera development team has released Opera 10.51 UNIX packages; .deb, .rpm & .tar, but do Linux fans really need it, I say no. Opera 10.50 for Windows Final is already out there, Opera 10.50 for Mac is now a Beta – Opera 10.50 for Unix/Linux is still an Alpha, so Unix/Linux users have two alphas, Opera 10.50 and Opera 10.51. Where the hell are we going with all these alphas, it makes no sense. We need a working Beta of Opera 10.50 for a start, not another buggy alpha. By the way Opera 10.51 for Windows FINAL is out out. Google Chrome Dev has been updated to version 5.0.356.0 for Windows, Linux, this update brings ‘Form Autofill’ feature which is enabled by default for new profiles. To add a new ready-to-use profile information that you can subsequently use to autofill web forms, fill-in your personal information in the Options -> Personal Stuff -> Change Autofill settings. Multiple profiles can be created, and they can have the same ‘Labels’, though it doesn’t make much sense. Unwanted profiles can be deleted from within the AutoFill Profile windows. Dis-enabling the in-built form autofill does not cancel your information.

Ubuntu ‘Lucid Lynx’ 10.04 has just been released, if you want to give it a quick try, with little or no hassle, then do it the TestDrive way. It simply downloads the latest working ISO and turns it into a virtual machine. So if you’ve got VirtualBox installed on your current working Ubuntu, Ubuntu 9.10, flip-up the terminal and drop in this line of code that adds the TestDrive PPA repository to your sources; sudo add-apt-repository ppa:testdrive/ppa && sudo apt-get update, update and install with sudo apt-get install testdrive. To personalize TestDrive settings, edit the /etc/testdriverc file, the defaults are just OK. More»
