Oracle just announced the release of the latest version of VirtualBox. “The VirtualBox team today released a significant new version of Oracle VM VirtualBox(TM), its high performance, cross-platform virtualization software. Version 9.0 of the Ubuntu based Linux distribution Linux Mint has been released. Dubbed Isadora, Linux Mint 9.0 is based on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS “Lucid Lynx”, and features version 2.6.32 of the Linux kernel, like Ubuntu 10.04.
The latest release is backed with 30,000 available applications in the revamped Software Manager, a new backup tool that can backup and restore your data and installed applications, in case you want to carry-out a fresh install. Windows Installer, “mint4win” based on Wubi is also back after a brief period of absence, rebranded Usb creator is now part and parcel of Linux Mint 9. Amongst the new desktop settings in Linux Mint 9, is a new feature that lets you choose where to place your windows buttons; on the right (Traditional style) or on the left (Mac style). More»

Mozilla has just released a security and stability update to Firefox 3.6.x. Firefox 3.6.4 beta 4 fixes 194 bugs, 21 are considered critical, in Firefox 3.6.x brand, across all supported platforms; Windows, Linux and Mac. The update package is available via Firefox’s update manager for Firefox 3.6.x users – you can also download FF 3.6.4 beta 4 directly from Mozilla’s all-beta web page.
“Firefox 3.6.4 provides uninterrupted browsing for Windows and Linux users when there is a crash in the Adobe Flash, Apple Quicktime or Microsoft Silverlight plugins.”

You’ve surely heard that Mozilla is working on a new Add-on Manager for Thunderbird email client and Firefox web browser. You can get a preview of this add-on manager in a recently posted Thunderbird 3.2 Alpha 1 Pre, an early development release of Thunderbird, a Shredder.
