Nero Linux 4 Adds Easy Wizard-Style UI

Nero the CD/DVD burning application has released version 4 for the Linux OS. This version includes a wizard-style interface (Windows user are familiar to the Nero Wizard) that provides easy-to-follow steps for burning CDs and DVDs on the fly . Nero Linux 4 also includes support for Blu-ray Disc and blue laser data burning. Other new features include support for ISOLINUX Bootable CD/DVD, Blu-ray Disc and enhanced audio format support for AIFF and MusePack.

Nero Linux 4 costs € 19.99: Its available for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5, SuSE Linux 10.3, Fedora 7, Debian GNU/Linux 4.0, Ubuntu 7.04 and higher versions of these distributions. You can also get a trial version (need to provide email address) for Red Hat and Debian based Linux desktops.

Its up to you todecide if Nero Linux 4 is worth its price tag or not. I stick with free and open-source K3b (sudo apt-get install k3b )

Proof-of-Concept Trojan Targets Skype Users

Researchers at TrendLabs have reported the presence of a newly released Proof-of-Concept (PoC) trojan that listens and records your Skype conversations.

Confirmation of the release of this Trojan horse called Trojan.Peskyspy that records VoIP communications, specifically Skype calls comes from Symantec.com. They sympathetically call it the “wiretap Trojan”.

It took 1 year and 2 months for Skype 2 for Linux to get an update. Sorry, to say it, but its not fair treatments if you think that Skype for Windows is at version 4.1.

Amongst the several incoming features in this beta stand-out four;

VLC 1.0.1 Fixes .flv and mpeg2 Seeking

A minor update of VLC media player 1.0 is available for download. VLC 1.0.1 is out to fix a few bugs in record man VLC 1.0 Goldeneye that barely three weeks after it’s release reached a stunning 14 million downloads.

Bug fixes were done on .flv (flash video) file format, mpeg2 generic coding of moving pictures, Windows and Mac OS X codecs updates.
