Ubuntu 8.10 ‘Intrepid Ibex’ reaches End of Life on April 30

Users of Ubuntu 8.10 alias Intrepid Ibex its now time to move ahead, the support period of Ubuntu 8.10 released on October 30, 2008 is now nearing its end and Intrepid Ibex will reach end of life on Frclassay, April 30, 2010 – At that time Canonical will no longer provide this operating system with security updates, critical fixes and software updates. As from April 30, 2010 using Ubuntu 8.10 will be at your own risk.

Upgrades are free of charge, to move to current Ubuntu 9.10 its advisable to download Ubuntu 9.10 and do a fresh install after backing up all your personal information. An upgrade to Ubuntu 9.10 from Ubuntu 8.10 most pass thru Ubuntu 9.04 – that will take lots of your time, and bandwidth.

Note that upgrades to version 9.10 and beyond are only supported in multiple steps, via an upgrade first to 9.04, then to 9.10.
