Distro Review: First stable version of Protech with Opera Tor
Finally a stable version of Protech Linux has been released. This Ubuntu based Linux distribution is designed for security specialists and programmers according to its developers. The new and stable distribution is said to be a user friendly operating system.
Protech can boot directly as a Live Cd or from a storage medium like the USB stick. If necessary installation takes just a “couple of minutes†and the integrated package manager helps users to install additional software packages with just two mouse clicks.
Amongst the many packages this distribution comes with stands out the Opera Browser which with in-built Tor and Privoxy. “Tor can help you anonymise web browsing and publishing, instant messaging, IRC, SSH, and other applications that use the TCP protocol” and the Privoxy is a web proxy with advanced filtering capabilities for protecting privacy, modifying web page data, managing cookies, controlling access, and removing ads, banners, pop-ups and other obnoxious Internet junk
Based on Ubuntu it has a wide range of hardware compatibility. “Graphics, network cards, audio, etc, are no longer a nightmare in Protech OS”
